This policy explains what information The Drain Authority collects when you call us, fill in a form, or read this site, what we do with it, who else touches it, and how to get it deleted.
It is written to be read, not to be skimmed past. If anything here is unclear, call (206) 590-1455 and ask.
The short version
We never sell your data
Not to lead brokers, not to marketing lists, not to anyone. We are a drain company, not a data business.
We collect what a job needs
Your name, contact details, service address, and a description of the problem. Nothing beyond that is required to book work.
You can have it deleted
Ask and we remove your record, subject to the invoicing and warranty records we are required to keep.

When you request service through a form on this site, we ask for your first and last name, email address, phone number, city, preferred service date, which services you are interested in, and a description of the problem. A form may also let you attach a photo of the affected drain or fixture.
When a job is booked, we also collect the service address and, after the work, payment details processed by our card processor. We do not store full card numbers on this website or on our servers.
If you call or text us, we keep a record of the number, the date, and notes about what you needed, the same way any service business keeps a job file.
Like nearly every website, this one records technical information when you visit:
This is collected through Google Analytics, loaded via Google Tag Manager, and through standard web server logs kept by our host. We use it to understand which pages answer people’s questions and which ones do not. We do not use it to identify you personally.
If you leave a review on Google, Yelp, Nextdoor, or the Better Business Bureau, we see whatever those platforms show publicly. If you book through our online scheduling tool, that provider passes your booking details to us.
We do not buy contact lists, and we do not accept purchased leads from data brokers.
Scheduling the visit, routing a technician, diagnosing the problem, quoting the job, invoicing it, and following up on anything covered by warranty. Camera inspection footage from your line is kept with your job file so you can request a copy later, which is covered in our FAQ on inspection footage.
We call you about a job you requested, to confirm an appointment, or to tell you a technician is on the way. We do not make unsolicited sales calls. If you would rather not be called, tell us and we will note it on your record. You can also register with the National Do Not Call Registry.
If you give us your mobile number, we may text you about scheduling, arrival windows, and job updates. These are service messages, not marketing. Reply STOP to any message to stop them, or HELP for assistance. Message and data rates may apply. We do not share your mobile number or SMS consent with third parties for their own marketing.
We email quotes, invoices, inspection reports, and answers to questions you sent us. If we ever send a newsletter or promotional email, every message will carry a working unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing will never affect the service you receive.
We look at aggregate analytics to see which questions bring people here and which pages fail to answer them. That is how pages like our Seattle drain cleaning cost guide and the drain and sewer FAQ get written. This work is done on grouped data, not on individual visitors.
Keeping invoicing and tax records, documenting permitted work, responding to a lawful request, and protecting against fraud or abuse of our forms.
When a retention period ends, records are deleted or anonymized.
Call or email us and you can ask for any of the following, at no charge:
We respond to these requests within 30 days and will verify your identity first, so that nobody else can request your information.
If you believe a Washington business has handled your information unfairly or deceptively, you can file a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General’s Office. We would rather you called us first, but the option is there and you should know about it.
We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, so there is nothing for you to opt out of. You can still request access, correction, or deletion using the contact details below, and we will not treat you differently for asking. The California Attorney General publishes a plain-language guide to California consumer privacy rights.
We serve customers in Washington State only, and we do not market to anyone in the UK or Europe. If you reach this site from there, you can still ask us for access to, correction of, or deletion of any data we hold. Requests are handled the same way as everyone else’s. Your data is stored in the United States.
The site is served over HTTPS, so anything you type into a form is encrypted in transit. Access to customer records is limited to the people who need it to schedule or complete work. Payment card data never touches our systems.
No system is perfectly secure, and any company that tells you otherwise is overselling. If a breach ever affected your information, we would notify you and the relevant authorities as Washington State law requires. The FTC publishes useful guidance on protecting your own privacy and security online.
This is a plumbing site. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information to us, contact us and we will delete it. The FTC’s Children’s Online Privacy Protection Rule sets the standard we follow.
We link to municipal utilities, state agencies, and other outside sources where they help explain something, such as Seattle Public Utilities on side sewer ownership. Once you follow a link, that site’s privacy policy applies, not ours.
If we change how we handle your information, we update this page and change the date at the top. Material changes, such as adding a new category of data or a new provider, will be described plainly rather than buried. Checking back occasionally is the reliable way to see where things stand.
There is no web form for privacy requests and no ticket queue. Call the same number you would call about a blocked drain, or write to the address below, and say what you want done.
